Tughans, the leading Belfast law firm, has celebrated double success at Insider’s Northern Ireland Dealmakers Awards 2016. Claiming the title “Corporate Law Firm of the Year”; corporate partner John McGuckian also won Young Dealmaker of the Year.
Tughans corporate team led by John-George Willis received the highest score from the voting heads of corporate finance to win Corporate Law Firm of the Year. The accolade acknowledges an ongoing period of successful deals notably H&J Martin joining the Lagan Construction Group , the sale of Sawyers Transport, the disposal of Hospital Services to Foresight Group and the sale of Moy Park to JBS.
John McGuckian’s track record for getting significant deals across the line has been recognised with the title “Young Dealmaker of the Year”. Over the last year John has led high level multi-discipline teams within Tughans on deals totalling over £200million which included advising TotalMobile on the investment by Lyceum Capital. He was made a partner of the firm in July 2015. The judges described him as “the outstanding candidate due to his skill at assembling specialist transaction teams and for his involvement in many of the venture capital and private equity deals in the region”.
The Insider Northern Ireland Dealmakers Awards recognise the region’s top corporate finance professionals, funders and lawyers. Shortlists for each category are drawn up by an independent judging panel and based on votes cast by business professionals.
