Grainne graduated in law from Queen’s University Belfast in 2013, going on to obtain an LLM in 2014. Grainne qualified into the dispute resolution team in 2017 having completed her training contract with Tughans. Grainne is qualified in NI, ROI and E&W and practices in the construction team.
Grainne has broad experience in advising clients in a range of commercial disputes including professional negligence and breach of contract claims, with a particular focus on construction disputes including adjudications. Grainne acts for Employers, Contractors and Sub-contractors in payment disputes, defects claims and delay and disruption disputes.
Grainne also advises on non-contentious construction matters across sectors such as transport, utilities, infrastructure, telecommunications and residential & commercial development.
Grainne is also a member of the Society of Construction Law.
- Acted for a joint venture roads contractor in respect of professional negligence claims against the road designers in respect of 2 x major road schemes in NI.
- Acting for a government department in the defence of multiple Adjudications arising out of a recently completed road scheme in NI.
- Acted for Flexidig Limited in successfully resisting the enforcement of an Adjudicator’s award.
- Acted for a sub-contractor in successfully defending a £1.6m claim for defective works and delay and disruption in a residential apartment development
- Acting for a USA aircraft corporation in the defence of a £30m guarantee claim in respect of the supply of aircraft parts.
